Patrick Kearney, one of Canada's most prominent guitarists, received the highest honors from the prestigious École Normale de Musique de Paris under the direction of Rafaël Andia and Alberto Ponce. Where in the first year of study at the exams received the following distinction from the jury (on which Roland Dyens was a member): Unanimité avec félicitation du jury. The following year he accomplishes a first at the school the completion of the last two diplomas in two consecutive years. Patrick has been a top-prize winner in several international competitions: Guitar Foundation of America International Guitar Competition, D'Addario International Concerto Competition, Concours Européen de Guitar Classique de Paris, Portland International Guitar Competition, the Debut inc. Competition, Concours International de Guitare de Trédèrez Locquémeau, among others. He has been aired on American and Canadian radio & television. On the concert scene, he has premiered many Canadian & International works. Recently, Mr. Kearney has begun a collection of guitar music publications by new composers, who primarily write for guitar. Les Productions D’OZ publishes this collection. On the recording scene he counts three recordings to his name: Bouquet (La Flame), Stringendo (Daminus Records), and Diabolico (La Flame). His second recording, Stringendo, earned him a prestigious Opus Prize nomination as best contemporary recording in 2003. Recently Mr. Kearney has tried his hand at composition and has to date 3 published works: Collage (D'OZ), Tabea's Fancy (Editions Daminus) and Train to Koyunbaba (Editions Daminus|. Mr. Kearney has taught Master Classes all over the world and in 2002 he founded the Lachine International Guitar Festival and Competition. Patrick Kearney is currently on the Faculty of Vanier College in Montreal and plays on Savarez Alliance/Corum strings.
